What happens when we meditate?
Does it really matter? Does it actually change us? Does it even work? Basically, what happens—whether you have a formal sitting practice, or you do the type of medtiation that I teach that I call intuitive gathering—is that meditations changes you. It changes you instantly, and it change you over time. It changes your body, by changing your physiology and hormones as you breathe. But it also changes you as a soul, by connecting you to Divine source. When we connect in to the energy of the Universe, to God/One/All/Source, we for a moment are able to glimpse, feel and understand this energy of everything, and we are able to know ourselves as part of it. Meditation helps us know that we are not separate. Not just as an idea, but as a radical truth that can never be taken from us. If you have a moment right now, you can meditate. What if you did that? Just close your eyes, take a breath in through nose, out through the mouth. And then relax in that stillness. Let your thoughts deal with themselves. And feel yourself a part of everything, for as long as you want to stay in. When you come back to this page, I can assure you that you will feel more open and connected. Much love, SARA Years ago I used to watch a British couple who made astrology videos in their home, and as they filmed, the woman was ironing.
Ironing! Right on camera! It was such a funny, familiar thing: to see this older couple in their everyday clothes, with their everyday hair, doing the everyday things, like chatting about astrology over the ironing board. Mecury retrograde while ironing the shirts! I loved the transparency and simplicity of this. This approach—of sharing ourselves--can take some guts at first. The temptation is to put up all kinds of walls and smoke screens, layer up on makeup and hair and get all fancy, so nobody can see who we really are. But I'm going to try it this way—intimate, casual, real. It feels better to show up as who we really are. . Much love, SARA I wanted to write to write a little bit about how the Universe is challenging me as I start my book tour for Messages from the Divine.
I am especially intrigued about how this book tour is repeating a nine year cycle in my life. I am wondering if you are also in the midst of a big pattern repeat? In 2009, I did my first book tour for Writing the Divine. I did the necessary trips and travel, but I wasn't personally ready for it. It was too much for my introverted nature. Nine years later, I'm repeating the Cycle of Nines pattern, doing a book tour in Seattle, Portland, Corvallis, Salem, Gresham, Denver and Mountain View. I'm still introverted. I'm still anxious while flying. I'm still confused by maps, even when I have GPS! I'm still confused by dates, times and the "details." And yet..I have grown into. I can do it this time. In fact, I'm looking forward to meeting all of you very much! I've grown. We all have. We can each have huge "aha" moments in a month or less. We can transform our perspective in a year. And in nine years time? We will do things we couldn't have imagined before. If you have a big challenge that you've been working on, you may find it helpful to envision how time is on your side. We're infinite souls. If we "get it" in this lifetime, great. If we "get it" in another lifetime, great. We have all the time for soul growth that we need. Much love, SARA |
