Years ago I used to watch a British couple who made astrology videos in their home, and as they filmed, the woman was ironing.
Ironing! Right on camera!
It was such a funny, familiar thing: to see this older couple in their everyday clothes, with their everyday hair, doing the everyday things, like chatting about astrology over the ironing board.
Mecury retrograde while ironing the shirts!
I loved the transparency and simplicity of this.
This approach—of sharing ourselves--can take some guts at first. The temptation is to put up all kinds of walls and smoke screens, layer up on makeup and hair and get all fancy, so nobody can see who we really are.
But I'm going to try it this way—intimate, casual, real.
It feels better to show up as who we really are. .
