Does meditation even work?
Does it actually change us? Yes. And yes. Whether you have a formal sitting practice, or you do the type of meditation that I teach—intuitive gathering—yes, meditation changes you. It changes you instantly. And it changes you over time. Both. It changes your body, by changing your physiology and hormones as you breathe. But it also changes you as a soul, by connecting you to Divine source. When we connect in to the energy of the Universe, we for a moment cross the veil and understand this energy of everything, and we know ourselves as part of it. Meditation shows us that we are not separate. Not just as an idea or concept. But as a radical truth that can never be taken from us. If you have a moment right now, you can meditate. Wow. What if you did that? Just close your eyes, take a breath in through the nose t out through the mouth. And then, relax in that stillness. Let your thoughts deal with themselves. And feel yourself a part of everything, for as long as you want to stay in. When you come back to this reality, you will be a little bit changed. If you want more, do it again. If you want a lot more, make it a spiritual practice. What if... we looked at anxiety as a kind of gift: a deep sensitivity that allows us to feel everything, all the time?
What if... anxiety is a sign of being monumentally in tune with all of the energies, even if this sometimes leads to overwhelm? If anxiety is sensitivity, then is it a problem? Or is it a gift or skill, that we can learn to work with? When we remember that anxiety is a sensitivity, not a shortcoming, we find that we can work with anxiety pretty easily. One thing that works is to MOVE: When an anxious thought comes, you can walk, swim, run, move, shift, look away, breathe, hug... any of these, and the thought cycle is broken. Another thing that works is to BE: when an anxious thought comes, just stop doing. Become still, turning inward, ground, and letting all those demands and clamor and busyness of the world fade away. Try solution one: doing. If that doesn’t work, try solution two: being. One of them will work, long enough for you to remember who you really are. Infinite, Divine. A part of everything. When you know yourself as One, you know there's nothing to be anxious about. You can't be harmed, ever. Your soul self is always safe. Much love, SARA P.S. Have you always wanted to study with Sara? We're FILLING FAST for Intuition University WINTER 2023. Sign up now! As we move through the ups and downs that life contains, it is useful to recognize a few things:
We are definitely going to fail. We are absolutely going to mess up. We are positively going to screw up., We are undeniably going to make mistakes. We are going to be irrefutabley brilliant in our ability to fail! The thing is: We’re raised with the idea that failing is a mistake, or some kind of reflection of our worth. Nothing could be further from the truth. In essence, failure is growing. Failure is the sign that we have stretched past a limit. Failure is a sign that we are actively expanding. Failure is a sign of a soul in expansion. Fail, try, fall, try again. This is how we learn soul lessons. It is a great thing to free yourself from the idea of failure as ““bad”” and simply to accept that failure means we are growing. If you have been confused lately, or feel lost, or find yourself off track from where you thought you were going, remember that each moment is a fresh, clean slate,.
You can live your dreams. You can answer your true calling. You can become present in your real life. And you can do this today. When we were children, many of us became aware of our life dream. Sometimes we call this our life’s work, our calling, our destiny. Often our life dream is very much at odds with what society tells us! We might be told we need to get a stable job, when our soul is calling us to travel the world. We might be told we need to live a life a certain way, when our soul is calling us to do something entirely different. Whenever there is the whisper, the call, the longing, the dreaming of something different, this is something to pay attention to. This is the Universe trying to get you back on track; this is the Universe trying to help you remember why you’re here. As a soul, following your dreams is what you’re here for. So, if you’ve put off your dreams for a long time, why? What if you understood that achieving your life dream—your destiny— was the most important thing for you to do in this lifetime? That the rest: the ““success”” or ““status”” or ““security”” was not the point? We are here to live as our true selves and answer our soul calling. In order to begin, just say yes. There will come a magical moment this week, perhaps even today, when you will see something, or you will experience something, and your heart will quietly unfold.
Everything will become sacred, holy, still. And in this moment, in which you are not doing anything in particular, not having any big experience, something will shift. And in this shift, you will understand yourself as soul in body, Divine being having human experience. It might show up as part of your religious tradition. It might be a secular moment. It might happen with family. It might be with friends. You might be alone. And, it might even be in the worst moment, the very lowest part of your day. The sacred has a knack for showing up then. This is a moment between the moments: a time when you observe yourself being your true soul Self. It doesn’t matter how this moment between moments finds you. It doesn't matter what you're doing or feeling. It just matters that when it does, you stop, allow it, and let it open you. Don't argue with what your moment is. Don't demand it look or feel a certain way. Dont' wish it were bigger, or different. Allow the sacred to come to you, as it will. Accept it as a gift. |
