When you have true compassion for yourself, for all your perceived flaws and foibles, for all your struggles and sufferings, you get closer to understanding what love really is.
In this way, you can awaken.
Treat yourself tenderly.
Be patient with yourself, and most certainly be kind.
Even if it feels like you do not fit in or you are less than others or you are not where you think you should be, let this go.
Give the same love you would show to someone else who is suffering—the same compassion, the same empathy—give this to yourself.
