Daily Divine: October Forecast 2017: What will you do with lucky Jupiter in Scorpio...for a whole year?
This month Jupiter transits into Scorpio for a FULL YEAR—until November 2018!
This is big news!
This is big energy!
And it's all good!
Jupiter is a lucky planet that activates wherever it lands. Scorpio is all about money, sex, power, the inner world, death and rebirth—it's a very intense sign. Thus when Jupiter moves into Scorpio, we begin to see everything intensified in all things Scorpio.
Remember, death in spiritual terms usually means death of the old ways, not actual death. You can expect active shaking off of the old cobwebs as Scorpio asks you to get serious about what you're trying to create in your life.
Scorpio is also a fixed sign. This means it is firm and stubborn and does not take no for an answer.
So, what do you want to do with lucky Jupiter in Scorpio for A WHOLE YEAR? I'd suggest you ask the Universe to help you get clear on:
• Intensity and focus - what are you REALLY meant to do in your life?
• Passion and purpose - what are you REALLY meant to put your energy toward?
• Inner work - do you REALLY know who you are?
• Psychic awakening - do you know how to use your intuition as spiritual practice?
Jupiter in Scorpio is a rare, year-long window of opportunity. October is a great month to commit to what you're on this planet to do—and then do it.
P.S. This October we are featuring our # 1 bestselling DailyOM course Become a Spiritual Psychic in 28 Days. Sliding scale, pay what you want:
To be spiritually connected means that we are able to have direct connection with the Universe—a two-way communication that provides all the support we could ever need.
No guru, no teacher, no middle man required.
As souls, we are able to communicate directly with the Universe, and the Universe responds to us—it answers back!
There is a particular language that the Universe speaks, and this is a spiritual language we can learn. Once you understand this language, you have a spiritual connection that will support you forever.
How do you learn the language? It's very easy. Pretty much any of the super-affordable DailyOM courses I offer will start you on the path of learning that you need to know.
The key is to start. Intuition is much more than just having a "feeling" or instinct. It is a language that you can learn very fully—a language that lets you receive information from the Universe in all ways, at all times, every single second..
it is a beautiful life, when we let the Universe lead—when we learn how to receive, interpret and follow the Divine guidance that is always available to us.
P.S. Be a part of my new 8-week course, Overcoming Body Shame.
I'm very pleased to announce that I'll be presenting four in-person workshops plus a sound healing event as part of the Beyond Words Cruise.
These workshops are an intensive, life-changing, deep dive into spiritual intuition, and I am thrilled to be able to work with you at this level!
Best of all, there's no extra cost for the workshops—everything's included in the cruise.

Sometimes people come to me and ask why it is that they can’t do a specific skill, such as see a vision in mediation.
When I ask about their lifestyle, I often find that these are incredibly busy people.
And so I tell them to relax more, to clear their life of overscheduling, to slow down and listen to the still and small.
Yet more often than not, they find it very hard to do this, or they’re resistant to doing this.
They don’t get how relaxing more will help them: how slowing down will help them speed up their spiritual expansion.
They are so accustomed to go-go-go.
They are so accustomed to do-do-do.
They are so accustomed to think-think-think.
Now, go-do-think are okay if you’re trying to tread water in a linear world.
But if you long to enter the depths of the Mystery, these linear, left-brain, rational approaches don’t work.
It’s like trying to use a chainsaw to peel an orange.
If you’re waiting for God, you have to wait in a relaxed state. You have to relax, have downtime, slow down, get quiet, get still.
God can’t reach you if you’re too busy, or too loud or too noisy in your own head.
You’ll miss all the sweet and subtle signs.

As most of you know, I'm a self-proclaimed hermit. I live out here Hobbit-like in the Oregon woods, and I haven't done an in-person workshop or event for many, many years.
Because recently, the Universe showed up with this crazy, unexpected idea: something I'd never even thought about before.
And I decided to say "yes."
In my case, I found myself with Richard and Michele Cohn, the lovely publishers of Beyond Words (The Secret, What the Bleep?), and they asked me to join them as a presenter on their 2018 Your Soul Awakening cruise in the eastern Caribbean, and ...
I let go of my fear of flying.
I let go of my fear of bathing suits. :)
I let go of my longing for home.
... and I said "I'l be there!"
I do so hope you'll join me! What fun it will be, to work with you in person! I'll be teaching a special workshop Speak the Language of the Universe, plus we'll have time for group gatherings, possibly private readings (TBD).
Right now, there's special Earlybird Savings: Sign up by May 31, and save $300, plus have the option for a special installment plan.
I'm thrilled about this unexpected opportunity, and look forward to meeting you there!
Sometimes we do a process I call “The Game.”
In it, one person thinks of a question (but doesn’t tell the other person what it is).
Then the other person meditates until he or she receives the answer as a Guiding Vision.
Then they switch roles for the next question.
It’s basically a blind reading.
The Game might be a little bit challenging if you don't have a meditation practice or haven't done a lot of intuitive work—but then again, sometimes it doesn't matter.
For example, The Game works extremely well with children and older people, who are often very open to new experiences and perhaps living a bit closer to the veil, on one side or the other.
The main thing is to trust, and to allow the Guiding Vision to arrive. To take a leap of faith, and let the Universe inform you.
What’s interesting about The Game is how it reveals such accurate answers.
A few evenings ago, my husband thought of a question (but didn’t tell me what it was.)
Immediately, I received a vision of Dorothy on the Yellow Brick Road, with all the distractions (witches good and bad, flying monkeys, the great Oz) she had on the way… only to find out that HOME was where her life was all along.
There was nowhere better for Dorothy to go, or nothing better for her to do. She was already right HOME, right where she was.
The question? “What is my highest focus for 2017."
Point taken, Universe!
We always think we need to be striving for what's new or next. But sometimes, we’re asked to just keep on keeping on doing what we’re doing: with focus, without distractions, without running away to OZ... just being where we are, right now. At least, that was the answer I received.
Try “The Game” someone today, and see what happens for you.
It's fun. And the Universe always has very interesting answers.
P.S. We're working on new self-study courses for February.
You might already self-identify as a psychic, intuitive, empath, sensitive... a seeker on the path of awakening, who uses the tools of spiritual intuition.
Maybe you're learned to speak the language of the Universe so fluently, ALL of these names might fit you!
Name doesn't matter. What's important is this:
Spiritual intuition is a practice you can LEARN.
It's like having an affinity for drawing, or music... you start with a natural ability, and then as you practice and learn, you get better and better, until your skill level is very high.
Browse this website, and you'll find a complete library of resources for studying intuition as a spiritual practice: written teachings, audio recordings, video, self-study courses offered on a sliding scale, and small group training.
As you begin, you'll find yourself changing and growing in unexpected ways.
Here 7 keys for walking the path of spiritual intuition:
1. Commit to soul growth as your highest path, your deepest desire.
2. Let go of everything you think should happen.
3. Slow down, so you can actually hear the Universe.
4. Understand that this work will bring up all of your "stuff".
5. Trust that guides, angels, saints and Holy Ones are real.
6. Accept that they will help you in ways you might have trouble believing. .
6. Trust the Universe/God/Divine/One/All.
7. Make room for miracles and surprises!
Where to start?
Connecting with the guides, of course!

Today, we continue with more from Simeon, a student in Intuition University’s small group training, currently living in the forests of Italy.
Though we have had animals in my family when I was small, I never became affectionate to them such that I never kept any animal in my own personal home till now. Here I have come to LOVE one dog and it is amazing the relationship that has grown between the two of us.
Can you imagine that I am able to know when this dog is hungry just by the way it comes to me? And the most amazing thing for me now is that this particular dog when it is hungry and comes me and I take its plate and go into the house to prepare something for it, I would wave to it to wait for me, it would lie down outside the door and would wait for me for all the time it takes me to get its food ready.
You can’t imagine how happy it is when it sees me: it would jump on me, lick my hands and brush itself against my legs, though it is not mine.
I have never lived in such a close contact with a dog before.
Simeon, walking the path of the Saint, is having enormous growth in his ability to connect with animals: he has developed animal communication or telepathy, as many of you do.
When you can communicate with animals, you have opened another door in your awareness.

Today, we have a note from Simeon, a student in Intuition University’s small group training, currently visiting the forests of Italy.
I had wanted to share a lot of things with you but one of my great weak points is that I don’t keep a diary or journal of events. Consequently I have forgotten a lot of episodes I wanted to share with you. Some of those I remember might seem irrelevant but I can assure you that they have made me become more conscious of how the Divine works to my favor and consequently helps me live in gratitude much more than I have ever done in my life.
Since I moved away from my former location (Rome) to my present one, where I am immersed in the forest and removed from easy contact with people, I can tell you that I have come to appreciate a lot of things. I have grown in my awareness of the Universe and nature in which we all live. For instance, over the last six months I have need to go into the forest on a daily basis, in the company of others, in search of wood for heating and baking.
Gradually I began noticing that each time we went in search of wood and somebody cuts a small plant around to make it easier to reach the plant we want to cut for wood, I felt bad about it. Gradually I began protecting these small plants from indiscriminate and unnecessary cuttings. You can’t imagine how good I felt each time I was able to save one of them. Gradually I began chatting with them in my mind.
My awareness continued growing to the extent that I even began apologizing to them for the harm we are doing to them. I was growing in my awareness about even the wild flowers around and each time I went into the forest, I was always watching carefully not to step unnecessarily on them. I could stop and gaze at their beauty especially when I was alone in the forest.”
Simeon, walking the path of the Saint, is having enormous growth in his ability to connect with nature: to feel it, to be with it, to have compassion with it.
When you can hear the plants speak to you, and you feel yourself speaking back to them, you have opened another door in your awareness.

There is a quality of Light around people who are living interesting, authentic, spiritually connected lives.
Why is this so?
Well, for the most part, truly interesting people have lost a lot of their fear.
1. They’re not afraid of death any more; they’ve accepted it will happen.
2. They’re not afraid of aging any more; they’ve accepted the body changes over time.
3. They’re not afraid of failure any more; they’ve accepted they will fail, and fail again, and fail after that… and they’ve learned how to fail better, every time.
4. They’re not afraid of being seen as “weird” any more; they’ve walked through the door of radical self acceptance, and understand they are marching to their own drummer, and that there’s no other way they can be.
5. They’re not afraid of being alone. They understand that with the Divine, it is never possible to be alone.
6. They’re not afraid of their past hurts and wounds. They understand that the past is what we’ve been through, and that being in Now is the only way.
7. They’ve let go of shame a long, long time ago… and they’re never going back.
8. They’re not afraid to pray, or to meditate, or to feel everything fully. They understand that the path to God/Universe/One/All is all there is.
9. They have passions that they spend time doing, and arrange their lives so that they can spend time doing these things.
10.They love themselves with full compassion, and they love others this way too.
If you want to be interesting, authentic and live a life of radical meaning and joy, check where you are on this list.
It’s a long journey. The only thing we can do is take one step forward at a time.
P.S. Last chance to sign up for small group training Fall 2016.
We sometimes joke that we have OCD, when we’re being particularly fussy about objects or stuff or things.
My OCD kicked in, we say as we rearrange something on our desk.
I’ve got OCD, we say as we clean something.
It’s OCD, we say as we move something from one part of the room to another.
Now of course, clinical OCD is a real issue, and people who have it suffer. I’ve known several, and it is a tough road.
Yet many of us who are sensitive also experience some aspects of OCD, such as being extremely aware of the objects around us.
For example, if someone you live with moves a chair from one spot to another in the room, it’s something most people might not notice, or even care about.
But for the sensitive person, this shift will be registered immediately: you will sense the change in the energy of the room, a disturbance in the force, so to speak.
If you need to have things just so, as many highly sensitive people do, understand that it is not about being fussy or picky or weird or a perfectionist.
It’s about needing the energy in your surroundings to be a vibrational match to you.; to be a match to your personal frequency, to the layer or level of energy you’re usually in.
It’s a kind of vibrational resonance, and to the sensitive person, everything… and by this I mean everything… plays a part. The chair, the book, the pen, the paper, the way the desk is centered between the window, the temperature in the room, the sounds outside.
If something is off. you’re going to notice it. And if you can change it, you probably will. And if you can’t, you’ll notice it and name it and work around it.
Every object holds energy. We, the animate, are not more energetic than the inanimate. It’s all energy. And if you’re sensitive, you feel and notice it all.
P.S. It's time to sign up for small group training Fall 2016.
Have you ever tucked into yourself when you’re out and about in a public place, and noticed the quiet ones?
You know… the introverts, the shy, the highly sensitive, the socially awkward, the observers, the folks with their minds most definitely on a different plane of awareness?
So often, we’re distracted by the loudest person in the room: the biggest personality, the most alpha dog.
And yet, when we turn our heads away from the big noise, and instead look to where all that steady calm is coming from, we notice a whole new kind of power and presence.
You might be a quiet one yourself.
Most sensitives, intuitives, healers, mystics and seekers are.
When you tuck yourself back into yourself and hang out in a spot that you can observe, you notice how the energy is moving in room. You notice the emotions that come from all people, and you see their truth. You even notice the vibration of the objects in the room: how everything is in energetic symphony with everything else all the time, one big wave of Oneness flowing through it all.
I find myself frequently tucked back in, having learned that this is an easier way to go through crowded places where there is a lot of big, loud, extroverted energy.
It’s not spacing out, it’s not hiding. It’s more like putting on my personal cloak of invisibility, so that I can float and flow in the reality more easily, without be distracted by other people’s stuff.
I notice, when I’m wearing my quiet garb, that there are others with their garb on too. We smile as we see each other, tucked back in, observing everything, observing each other, observing ourselves.
There’s a lot of energy in the room all the time. When you tuck back in and go still, you can see there’s more than the noise, the cacophony, the drama, the distraction.
There’s God in the room, all the time.
P.S. It's time to sign up for small group training Fall 2016.
A few days ago I had the pleasure of working with a client who I consider to be a true mystic.
It’s a gift to be in Divine connection this way.
But for the client, it made “real” life difficult.
“I’m spend a lot of time by myself,” she said. “I don’t have too much to say to most people.
And it’s very true: if you are spending a lot of time in the etheric realm; if you are spending an hour or several or many hours day communing with the Divine in all the ways you can do this: meditation, prayer, contemplation, nature… then you’re going to start to live in a different vibration than many of the people around you.
You’re going to live in a state of peace and quiet and calm.
While all around you the world rages in chaos and drama: the constant racheting up of the distracted life.
And, this creates a chasm, when you with your peaceful, serene heart, with your beautiful connection to the world of spirit and Light, attempt to make casual conversation with someone who doesn’t speak the language.
Will you talk about football scores?
Will you talk about politics?
Will you talk about the latest diets?
You won’t, because you won’t be interested in these mundane topics. You’ll have move to a place where you’re living in the etheric realm: you’re existing in a different dimension, even while you continue to live in this earth life.
If you find this happening to you, don’t worry about it too much.
It is common, in the spiritual life, to run out of things to say about the worldly life.
It just doesn’t mean much any more.
It doesn’t matter.
We’ve moved to a new place of understanding.
If you find yourself in this place, relax and step into your true purpose.
Let go of what you’re not.
Be what you’re here to be.
Many of us are here on this planet to be mystics, channels, meditators, healers, teachers, seekers… we’re here to lift ourselves up, and in lifting ourselves up to new understanding, we begin to lift the world.

If you are a creative person, you may have noticed that when you become imbued with an idea for a project, your entire world rearranges itself so that you can complete this project.
It’s as if time slides over on the bench seat of the big old Cadillac that you use to navigate your life, and suddenly there’s all the space you need.
Appointments on your calendar suddenly cancel.
Meetings you “had to” do suddenly disappear.
Tasks on the priority list shift to “when I get to it.”
Friends disappear back into the woodwork.
People you take care of start taking care of themselves.
It’s like the Universe becomes your personal manager, shooing everybody and everything away so you finally have time to think!
Suddenly, you find yourself faced with some open space: a block of time and privacy that is exactly what you need to create.
Your studio beckons.
The computer light blinks invitingly.
Your guitar leaps into your hands.
Of course, there are many other ways to be creative besides art, writing and music!
The point is, that when you become infused with a creative idea, when you experience a period of manic creativity where you can’t stop thinking about a project, where you find yourself in pure creative Flow for hours or days on end, it’s best to abandon yourself to this fully..
A creative portal that the Universe sends you through is not forever: it’s a gift. This gift of Flow, of being a conduit for Divine inspiration is precious: if you don’t make yourself available to it, it will go shut down, close, go away.
And as for all those other things on your “to do” list?
They may or may not be as important as what happens to you when you enter into a state of manic creativity, when you become a conduit for the Divine, when you exist in the highest vibration of Flow, and in this expression of your full self you are transformed.
P.S. Get my new book Daily Divine: Message From a Loving Universe.
If you’re sensitive by nature… if you’re the kind of person who feels everything all the time… it’s easy to get overwhelmed.
This is how it is for most of us who are intuitives, healers, empaths, seekers, mystics, creatives… all of us who live off the grid, so to speak, of the mainstream.
There’s nothing wrong with living authentically, with being who you really are.
In fact, this is a sublime way to live!
Yet when you find yourself continually putting your empathic self out there into the mainstream world with all its rough edges, it’s easy to get overwhelmed.
The thing is: not everybody feels everything all the time.
Most of the good people of the world go about their business without this profound sensitivity and awareness of every little thing.
They don’t feel all the energy.
They don’t feel everyone’s emotions.
They don’t instantly know everyone’s stories.
They don’t sense spirits.
They don’t have enter other dimensions.
They don’t hear the whisperings of the Universe.
Many of the good people of the world simply aren’t conscious yet; they haven’t woken up.
Instead, they’re running on the fumes of distractions that make them forget who they really are: the “to do” list, the schedule, the goal, the ambition, the drama, the wound, the rage, all making it impossible for them to notice what’s happening all around them.
For you, empath, it’s different.
You feel it all
You know it all.
There’s no way to turn it off.
When you’ve had just a little too much of this everything-all-at-once, when you’re experiencing a little bit of empathic overwhelm, I invite you to….
Excuse yourself from all the energy.
Take a break from all the emotions.
Retreat from the swirl of everyone else’s stuff.
The world will most definitely wait.
And in the meantime, as you gather your beautiful sensitive self back into your true Self, understand that it’s a gift to be an empath, to feel it all.
It’s a gift of consciousness.
P.S. August Course of the Month: Be a Divine Conduit for Your Guides & Angels
I live out in the country, and because of this, I drive a lot. Often several hours a day, heading into town and back to take my daughter to and from school.
Sometimes the drive is intensely difficult: pitch black, rainy or snowy, flooding by the river. Sometimes it’s gorgeous: light rising or falling to the east or west, nature shimmering in glory.
I used to get stressed when the weather was bad, and happy when it was nice. But now, I realize, the weather isn’t important. What really matters about the drive, is that it is a portal.
Driving is an activity that induces trance very easily: we hurtle through time and space encased in a small bubble, and in this way we move through other environments, energies, and vibrations quickly. Our mind is one place, and our body is another.
I now use my drive time as portal: I put forth the intention that I won’t just travel in earth reality in my drive, from point A to point B. But that I will also travel in etheric realm in my drive, from point A to point B: whatever the points are that the Universe would like me to visit, understand, or explore, I will visit them during the trance of the drive.
In this way, the drives have become nearly dreamlike: a sense of being so immersed in meditative thought, that I really can’t remember how I traveled on the earth.
Of course I’m watching the speed limit, paying attention to other traffic; all the real world driving is happening.
But underneath it’s all etheric journey. When I reach my destination I have received new information and new understanding.
P.S. Have you read my new book Opening to Love? Learn more here.
When I work with people to discover their spirit guides, there’s often a lot of expectation that we will encounter a particular kind of guide: a tall, wise guide, for example, or a beautiful woman guide in lovely gowns, or a devout monk, and so on.
And yet, often… in fact very often, people have tiny guides show up in one or more of the guide positions: earth guide, spiritual teacher, mystic guide.
The tiny guide might be a fairy, or a leprechaun, or something like Tinkerbell. And often when people see these tiny guides, they laugh at first, because the guides are so delightful. But, then they get worried, that they don’t have “big” enough or powerful enough guides.
Don’t be confused by the way a guide first shows up. In all cases, the tiniest guide is not tiny at all: they are just showing themselves to you in this way, so that it will be easier for you to receive them.
Guides use humor and friendliness in the same way. They show themselves in non-powerful, non-aggressive ways, so that we are not afraid, so that we let our guard down, so that our childlike Self sees clearly.
Underneath the tiny aspect, the guides have other ways of representing themselves: they are incredibly powerful and wise. If you think you are ready to see this, ask your tiny guide to show you the other aspect of themselves, and watch them shape shift into something different.
The power will be astounding. You will see how big they are: ascended masters of tremendous wisdom and energetic ability. You may prefer them tiny, after all!
P.S. Have you seen the amazing ocean video? Watch it now!
There’s an interesting phenomena where we spend a lot of time dealing with our memories and what we did in the past; not necessarily ruminating over our “glory days” if we had those, or past wounds, if we had those.
We ruminate over the past, in our minds and memory.
But we often forget to ruminate, (which means ponder, think over, chew on, cogitate,) on our future self. As if we only have the ability to know our past reality, instead of our future.
The truth is, we can hitch a ride to our future self, and when we do this: lasso our awareness to the self that we are becoming, instead of the self who we were… that this aspect of intentional energy creates this reality for us.
Who in your wildest dreams, is the future self that you would like to become? Hitch a ride to that Self; the self you long to be more than anything.
As you attach your energy to that new reality, the Universe creates it for you.

At least once a week, I’ll guide a meditation and someone in the group will fall asleep.
When we’re working in our small groups on a conference call, it can be common to hear a soft noise in the background, and realize the snuffling and sighing is the sound of a student, gently snoring away.
This falling asleep instead of entering in to Divine vibration is common, but it can mean different things.
The first thing to look at is simply how tired the person is. If you are really tired, you will go to sleep in meditation because this is what you as soul-in-body need most of all: more than a visit with your spirit guide, more than a clairvoyant view of your future, more than a message from the Universe.
The second thing to look at is what experience you have during this sleep state. Sometimes, people conk out because they need to receive a healing or alignment or download or other type of intensive vibrational shifting that can’t take place if the ego/mind is on full alert. You get knocked out, so the Universe can tune you up.
The next time you fall asleep in meditation, look at those two ideas: how much sleep you’re getting, and how much healing you need.
One of those will be your answer.

Sometimes I hear from incredibly sensitive, aware and well-meaning moms who’ve read my book Your Psychic Child, and are starting to work with their child in psychic training.
The only problem is, often the child is only two or three years old.
That’s just too young to start.
At this age, before language has formed fully for a child, it’s very hard to determine spiritual or psychic gifts, let alone work with them. It’s very hard to not helicopter; we want our children to be amazing and gifted and special, and we think if we just feed them all these ideas and experiences, then certain gifts will open for them.
But it doesn’t work that way.
A psychic child is like a cup; if you pour water in, you can fill it. But if you fill it too full, the water just flows over the brim. It doesn’t stay in.
The best things to do with all kids, psychic and otherwise (and yes, most kids these days are absolutely psychic), is just let them be kids: limited electronics, good food, lots of sleep, plenty of hugs, music and art and nature.
The rest will take care of itself.

There are many practices that use sound therapy to raise vibration and create resonance and healing in the body. Different frequencies from instruments such as crystal bowls, singing bowls and so forth, are very effective.
However, all music shifts vibration, and this can be up... or down.
When we understand the power of music to raise us up or take us down, open us to Light or send us to dark, we begin to listen more carefully.
Any kind of music that creates chaos, a sense of violence or a sense of fear, whether this is rap, heavy metal, angry rock, classical music that is imperialistic, military or propaganda based; all of this is designed to have our minds attach to the music, and not be able to leave it.
In this way, low vibration music can be used for mind control: it is a way of taking the looping mind, and having the mind attach to the music. This of course is why this kind of music: loud pounding beats at sports arenas or military parades or shopping malls or clubs, is so effective at controlling group thought.
However, we can also choose music that allows the mind to relax, that creates a spaciousness in the body, that creates states of high holy, bliss, Flow, euphoria.
The dark, or the light. Choose carefully, what you listen to.
There is more to music that we can yet understand. Its power to shift us is clear.
P.S. Tune in to my new podcast, Spiritual Psychic.
A lot of empaths are addicts.
By addicts, I don’t necessarily mean alcohol, recreational drugs and prescription drugs, although these are of course common. It could be anything: running, yoga, exercise, porn, sex, shopping, food, the need to be busy, the need for drama.
As an empath, you feel everything, and there’s no way to stop this sensitivity: it’s just who you are. All the feelings and emotions of other people and all other Universes of energy, plants, objects, places and so forth, are always arriving to you. And so, one of the ways to temporarily stop this information from permeating your Self, is to distract yourself with an addiction.
Alcohol or drugs or food, for example, shift your vibration higher or lower, depending on the substance. This takes you out of empath mode, into a mode where you’re not as aware. With addictions that are exercise based, as another example, exertion releases endorphins that bring euphoria, which again takes us away from feeling all the world’s pain.
Now, exercise is a great tool for empaths, but when we start to use it too much, it becomes a distraction, just like anything else. For many empaths, meditation can also be a distraction: we go into bliss state, and we never want to come back out!
If you are an empath using habits as distraction, or as a way to lift you from the pain of everything, consider that there is another way.
Instead of numbing, you can open.
Instead of blocking, you can surrender.
In other words, you can use your empathic nature to open to everything. It is a different approach, and it is scary at first.
But when you open to love, Oneness and yourself as soul, your experience changes.
P.S. Listen to my new podcast, Spiritual Psychic!
In old episodes of Star Trek, there was a character called the Empath, whose job on board the ship was to feel and sense and see everything about a given situation.
On the show, the Empath had to go into deep concentration, and put her hands to her temples and say things like “I’m getting something" or "I sense something."
Oh, if it were only so easy!
For most of us, being an empath isn’t something we can switch on, or off. It’s an openness in our being that allows us to take in the feelings and emotions of others. And by others, that doesn’t mean just human others; it means animals, plants, building, places, even time spans.
When you are an empath, you feel everything, and there aren’t too many ways to shut this constant stream of feeling information off.
Thus, if someone lies to you, but you feel the truth, you are left in confusion about what is real. If someone tells you shopping is “fun” but when you go shopping you feel every little thing: all the feelings of the people in the crowds, all the contained feeling of all the merchandise, who made it and where it came from....it can feel overwhelming.
And so when you come home miserable and exhausted, you might think something is wrong with you. But there’s nothing wrong with you. You just haven’t been given the vocabulary, the identity, that helps you understand what you experience.
There are lots of empaths in this world. We're all feeling it all, all the time.

If you were raised on fairy tales, you were given a gift.
Depending on where you live in the world, there are fairy and folk tales that offer moral lessons, warnings against evil or darkness. There are also tales that invite us to think more creatively about our circumstances, and to not accept what the society or group thought would have us believe.
Many of these tales involve a young hero who must do a challenging task. Our hero usually meets a wise person, a beggar, a witch or an elemental, who gives them gifts with magic properties, or who advises them how to communicate with the Universe.
For example, if the hero is charged to find a precious ring that has been thrown into a field of flowers, the her or she simply speaks to the ants of the field, and they quickly find the ring. Or, if the hero is charged to clean a filthy hut, the birds of the air quickly come and do the task.
What we are taught then, is two stories: the first story, which that each hero is on a quest; each hero must walk a path. But under this is the second story: the recognition of nature as an ally, nature as magic, the world as a Universe that is something that we are not apart from. This second story teaches us that there are many beings that we can communicate with directly, both on this plane, and in the plane of multi-dimension, the etheric realms.
Of course, there's nothing fantastic tale about this! Living in multi-dimension is as real as death and taxes. It is all simply a matter of opening your mind, and awakening to this reality.
