We all want to be rock stars.
We all want to be cowboys. We all want to be super cool. We all want to be totally strange. If you haven't got your costume yet—or horrors, if you've been thinking "bah humbug" this Halloween—it's time to rethink that. That's because whenever you put on a costume—you try on another identity for a little while. And this is incredibly useful for your soul. Even if you wear a costume just for "fun", you let your stronger or bossy personality rest for a while, and you give the controls to a different part of yourself, Maybe you're strict in your "real" life, and a costume lets you relax. Maybe you're quiet in your "real" life and a costume lets you get wild. Maybe you're responsible in your "real" life, and a costume lets you shake loose. As we journey on the road of adulting and all the way into eldering, we sometimes forget parts of ourselves.Entire parts of our personality—especially the fun, wild, creative, joyful, adventurous parts—can get left by the wayside. So when a holiday like Halloween comes, it's great to brush the cobwebs off. It's a great chance to remember all of yourself—not just the grown up version who's pretending to run the show. Much love, SARA Do you long to reimagine the holidays, and experience a season of true peace and joy?
Join me for ENTERING STILLNESS: A WINTER"S RETREAT, where in next few weeks, from mid November until Winter Solstice, we’ll work together to create a new kind of holiday: • We’ll create intention about how you would like to be in this season. • We’ll create rituals and experiences that bring you to peace and harmony. • We’ll let go of drama and dysfunction of all kinds. • We’ll rest and retreat, and allow ourselves to unfold. • We’ll create spaciousness and stillness, in tune with the season. Our deep inward turning becomes punctuated by the beauty of cold and dark: the mornings when our breath clouds the air, the afternoons when the sun is merely a valiant trickle of light, the nights when we step outside and watch the stars blaze against winter’s cold sky. It’s all incredibly beautiful and profound: this gift of a season that helps us feel both our smallness and our greatness all at once. Regardless of how it's always been done, of family obligations, of tradition, of society's sway, you are absolutely free to create a mystical, heart-opening holiday that is brimming with joy and connection. This is yours to choose. Nature teaches us some beautiful lessons.
One is that everything changes. Another is that everything dies. Another is that everythign renews. Many of you have the clear sense that change is coming into your life very soon. You might know exactly what this change is. You might just have a sense that something is shifting. You might be excited. You might be anxious. What is good to remember, is that everything changes, dies, renews. It's a cycle. We're always in one part of it or another: beginning, ending, beginning again. This lasts for infinity, because we are souls. Much love, SARA |
