A while back I posted Part One of my adventures with spirit animals. Today is Part Two.
On my last bike ride, I was unexpectedly gifted with a sighting of three young raccoons. I was still giddy with the thrill of it, when something else happened.
The Universe was not done with surprises for the day.
If you are person who lives near Nature, you already know: Nature is very much around us. It is not just that we live in these homes or apartments, and we have these fences or boundaries, and Nature doesn’t come in and interact with us.
Nature is here! Animals are everywhere!
Animals, insects, flora, trees, the wind and weather!
Nature is with us always!
Thus, after seeing the three raccoons, I continued on my bike ride. And sure enough, there it was on the next curve: my second sighting of a spirit animal in the course of 10 minutes: a young deer, blocking the path.
Deer is my totem animal, so I certainly paid attention!
Some of the questions I ask when visited by a totem animal are:
• Is it strong or weak?
• Young or old?
• What other physical conditions?
• What is it doing?
• What was I thinking about when I saw it?
• What question was I working on when I saw it?
• What came into my mind when I saw it?
I slowed my bike to a standstill and instantly noticed another woman across from me. So there I am, 20 feet from the deer on one side, the woman 20 feet on the other side, and the deer in the middle of the path.
And all of us froze.
The woman and I both went into some kind of reverie for the deer, because we both know: it was a holy moment, a message from the Universe, a sacred sighting.
Normally a deer this close, even a deer familiar with humans, would have turned and leapt away in that flashing, bounding way that deer do.
But this deer just watched us watching it, and then it started chewing grass on the side of the path.
It was fully conscious of us.
It was fully aware of us.
And it was not afraid.
What a beautiful message to receive, in these woods on this bike path, in witness by another human being!
Fully conscious. No fear.
And after a very, very long while, the mood shifted. The moment was complete. You can feel this, if you pay attention: the vibration just changes, and there it is.
Very slowly, I began towheel my bike past the deer until it slowly, casually turned and began to ramble through the brush.
The woman raised her hand as I passed.
We had witnessed this moment together.
What animals in Nature do you notice? What are they telling you? Go outside today, and see what happens.
P.S Will you be joining me and Dr. Steve for the 2018 Beyond Words Cruise?
Miracles are real.
Except, they're not particularly miraculous.
They're just how the Universe works.
When we begin to trust in the Universe, we discover that convergences—miracle moments in which time, space, consciousness and grace all come together—are happening all time, in every moment.
When we let ourselves believe in miracles, we start to pay attention to all the magic and power that is always around us.
At first, when we start paying attention, it seems like miracles are happening more often!
But soon we come to the understanding: miracles are always happening. It’s how the Universe works.
If you have lost your faith a little bit or a lot, take a step back from all those Misbeliefs. All that worry and angst in your head is not real. The Universe is moving in Divine Flow, just as it always has, forever.
Take a moment, take a breath, and just start noticing every little thing around you. When you pay attention, without expecting things to be one way or another way, you start to notice the synchcronicities and convergences, and you start to see the patterns, and you start to see the miracles.
And once you start to notice them, you will see that miracles—all the ways the Universe is in direct support of us—are happening all the time.
P.S. I'll be teaching four workshops on the 2018 Beyond Words Cruise.
Sometimes it seems we follow our schedules religiously—except when it comes to our spiritual life.
Now, some of you have very active spiritual practices, and you understand why it’s important to create time and space for retreats, workshops and events that expand you. Yes! This is the way to do it!
But for many folks—and I know this because I hear this directly from you—you're so busy with your life, spiritual practice seems to take a back seat.
Maybe we can grab a couple of minutes in the morning to journal, or a few minutes to meditate before bed. Maybe we multi-task by listening to spiritual podcasts while we’re at the gym. Or we squeeze our Divine connection into yoga class during the week, or at a Sunday spiritual service.
It's hard to understand until you're there... but..once you start making your spiritual life your priority, your to-do list is going to shrink.
You won’t be squeezing spirituality in anymore.
Skimping on the Divine won't be enough.
You’ll want to make it your priority.
And when you make it your priority, all the busyness, all the doingness—will start to drop away. You just won't be interested any more.
Once you start connecting in with the Divine—really experiencing two-way communication with the Universe—then the stuff that doesn’t really matter, won’t matter to you.
P.S. Try my NEW DailyOM course, Overcoming Body Shame.
To be spiritually connected means that we are able to have direct connection with the Universe—a two-way communication that provides all the support we could ever need.
No guru, no teacher, no middle man required.
As souls, we are able to communicate directly with the Universe, and the Universe responds to us—it answers back!
There is a particular language that the Universe speaks, and this is a spiritual language we can learn. Once you understand this language, you have a spiritual connection that will support you forever.
How do you learn the language? It's very easy. Pretty much any of the super-affordable DailyOM courses I offer will start you on the path of learning that you need to know.
The key is to start. Intuition is much more than just having a "feeling" or instinct. It is a language that you can learn very fully—a language that lets you receive information from the Universe in all ways, at all times, every single second..
it is a beautiful life, when we let the Universe lead—when we learn how to receive, interpret and follow the Divine guidance that is always available to us.
P.S. Be a part of my new 8-week course, Overcoming Body Shame.
Depending on where you live and what time you are reading this, the solar eclipse is ON today, Monday, August 21, 2017.
Last night, I was front row at the Pink Floyd (tribute band!) Dark Side of the Moon concert-in-the-park in Monmouth Oregon, population 7,000.
And today, at 10:17 am Pacific, I will be standing in the middle of our drivewaywith Dr. Steve and my son, with a perfect view to witness the eclipse.
Around us, the neighbors will be at their vantage points; thousands of campers have set up a city of tents in fields and farms.. Nearby, a local vintner has hundreds of campers at his winery. In our main town, Salem, Oregon, folks have camped at public parks,, and are now gazing skyward.
Everybody’s got their solar eclipse glasses on, purchased months in advance, before our city population increased by 125,000 people for the event, and all the glasses sold out.
At 10:17 am PACIFIC, I'm going to do my Solar Eclipse Ritual.
don’t know what will happen.
I’m giddy with it.
This solar eclipse happens in LEO: If you have planets in Leo, you'll likely feel the effects strongly.
The solar eclipse happens because the moon, reflective of Divine Feminine, our spiritual nature, our intuition, holder of our emotions, will move directly in front of the sun, reflective of Divine Masculine, our active nature, our rationality, and leader of our actions.
For just a few moments, as the world looks on:
• The Divine Feminine will block the Divine Masculine.
• Emotion will block action.
• Intuition will block rationality.
• The inner will block the outer.
The Solar Eclipse is an event as spiritually significant as the December 2012 solstice, which marked the end of the Mayan calendar.
Be present. Be with others.
Notice how you feel during this time.
We are witnessing, as collective soul.
Notice how you feel afterwards.
P.S. Leave a comment in the forum about your Solar Eclipse experience today! What did you do? What happened for you? Did you do a ritual? What else?
The Solar Eclipse on Monday, August 21, 2017 will be one of the biggest vibrational shifts in many of our lifetimes. It is an invitation to consciousness—for you, for me, for the U.S. and for the world.
The gist of it is this: the eclipse is a portal.
If we do nothing, nothing changes—we won't move through the portal.
But if we choose to enter the portal—if we hold intention, and if we communicate with the Universe—we can move through the portal, and move into another dimension of our self—our self at a higher level. If you choose to work with the energy of the Solar Eclipse wisely, you can accelerate your own expansion.
Do you remember Winter Solstice 2012? The end of the Mayan calendar? The Shift? Many of you experienced accelerated expansion during this event. This is als0 what will happen at the Solar Eclipse.
Even if you aren't in the path of totality for the eclipse, the event will still affect you—it will affect all of us. This next shift will happen—we can use this energy to better ourselves, and to help the world, if we choose.
7 Steps to Your Ritual for the 2017 Solar Eclipse
1. Plan ahead. Figure out the timing of the eclipse in your area or closest to your area, and plan to have an hour available for your ritual and meditation at that time.
Check the map at https://eclipse2017.nasa.gov/eclipse-maps
2. Create a list of 10 things you don't want to bring into the portal with you. These could be relationships, activities, habits, ideas—whatever it is you want to fully and finally release from your life.
3. Create a list of 10 things you want to move into. Whatever is important to you: life's calling, life's path, relationships, spiritual opening, healing, whatever your heart longs for. These should be thing that represent your spiritual expansion.
4. Take the eclipse seriously. Be in a meditative state during the path of totality in your area. As you meditate, focus on your list of 10 things you are releasing, and on your list of 10 things you are moving into.
5. Say a prayer for the world. Connect with collective soul. Wish all souls Light. Wish all souls healing. We are part of each other, and we are ready for peace.
6. Use sage, fire, water, drumming, singing bowls, other ritual practices if you want. Be safe.
e) Listen and watch for how the Universe communicates back at this time: notice weather shifts, animal totems, messages, visions.
7. Spend time quietly after the event is over. Pray, meditate, be still Notice how you feel, notice what feels different. Be grateful. Thank the Universe.
P.S. Please wear your eye protection—the damage to your cornea is real if you look at the sun.

What happens when you intentionally decide, like Henry Thoreau, to go into the woods? Or the mountains? Or the desert? Or the beach?
When you just decide to take some space, get outside of your current situation, get outside of your head?
When you decide to let to of the drama and the deadlines and the demands that we call life… And instead, you decide to be with yourself for a while, in order to discover who you really are?
In tribal societies, many cultures have an initiation or walkabout or vision quest, where a person goes alone in to the wilderness for a period of time, in order to attract guidance from the Universe. Often this person is moving from youth into adulthood; it’s a rite of passage.
But a vision quest doesn’t have to be only for youth.
We can receive visions, signs and guidance anytime we choose to break routine; anytime we show up with the intention of receiving.
If you put off taking retreat, if you never slow down, if you never stop and listen… you’re going to miss some astounding advice from the Universe.
The Universe is whispering to you right now.
Take some time, take some space—and let yourself listen.
P.S. Join me for four experiential workshops at the Beyond Words Cruise this February.
Where I live here in Oregon, it’s haying season.
That means fields once wavy with sun-bleached grasses are now shorn down to stubble. The tractors are baling morning till night, binding hay into stacks or rolls..
We've been talking lately about the cycle of nines: the concept that we're now in a "one" year, once again passing through the same lessons we began in the "one" cycle that started in 2008.
We are surely in a planetary cycle, with the path of totality revealing the solar eclipse—a rare event for collective soul.
And we, at least in the northern hemisphere, are also in a cycle of summer.
It's s summer now, so we're making hay.
But after that, there’s nothing to do for a while.
We'll be at pause, rest, wait.
You see around here, the harvest comes in stages. First there's hops, then berries, now hay, then apples and veggies and corn, and finally pumpkins and grapes.
The hay is in.
Nothing else is ready yet.
There’s no harvest today.
Nothing to do but wait.
These cycles of the growing—planting, growth, harvest, rest—have been part of our human DNA for a very long time.
When we follow these cycles, instead of resisting them, our whole life gets easier.
When the garden has been planted, you don’t plant it again.
You simply water it, maybe weed it.
But you don’t over attend.
The same goes for now.
Whatever you planted in the spring, in terms of goals or plans or ideas or dreams?
Let it go for now.
The Universe has things well in hand.
It’s not the harvest yet.
What we're called to do now is pause.
To rest in the shade with cool glass of something and enjoy this moment of Now.
P.S. It's a great time to plan ahead for the Beyond Words Cruise this February!
I am in the path of totality.
By this, I mean that on August 21, 2017, the solar eclipse will be fully visible from my hometown of Salem, Oregon.
On that morning, I will be standing at the top of my driveway with my solar glasses on, watching it all go down. And I won't be alone.. One million people are arriving to the state of Oregon for the eclipse event. This is stunning, there are only four million people in the state!
Salem, one of the prime viewing spots, is preparing for the deluge. Traffic is expected to snarl on the highways. Businesses are closing for the day. Garbage services are saying they won’t be able to deal with the trash.. Emergency services are gearing up. And everyone I know has already bought their special eclipse glasses, sold at every store counter in town.
I know not everyone is in the path of totality. However, the solar eclipse will shift us all, energetically and spiritually.
The last solar eclipse visible in the 50 states was in 1979. What were you doing then? There are always patterns when things return, and it is good to remember how you once were.
The bigger news is this: if you take time to mark the eclipse with ritual or ceremony or noticing, you will be expanded into collective soul.
Do you remember the end of 2012, which marked the end of the Mayan calendar? Collective energy focused on a spiritual event, and the shift in awareness was palpable.
Do you recall how you feel when you celebrate any solstice, new moon or full moon, and you realize that other people on the planet are doing the same thing? This is also spiritual connection.
It's a wonderful idea to treat August's solar eclipse with reverence and respect. It is not just a moment when the sun and moon align in a particular way. It is a moment when we are all going to be connecting in awe and wonder, together.
This is going to break down the veil of separation, in a new and powerful way.
Change is here.
Don’t be confused by the media.
Notice how you have been feeling lately.
Notice how your spirituality seems to be expanding.
This is what’s really happening.
P.S. Registration is filling fast for small group training Fall 2017!
Lately when head out, I’ve noticed that people are talking to me.
Not just sometimes. All the time.
And it’s not that just they’re talking to me, which is usual when you're out and about.
It's that they’re talking to me in a NEW way.
And I’m wondering if this is happening for you too? For example:
• While walking in the small college town nearby, a woman makes a beeline toward me and starts talking to me like she knows me. She isn't just friendly or chatty. She's talking to me like she KNOWS me—personally, closely.
• Getting gas, the attendant starts talking to me like we're family members.
• A woman decades younger than me, whom I don’t know, calls me sweetie four times in a conversation. Not in an annoying way. With deep familiarity and affection..
• A woman crosses the street to me and starts asking me how I'm doing and how my day is going—and I’m quite sure I’ve never seen her before.
All of these interactions are replete with more connection than I used to experience, even a year ago.
This is interesting to me, because I head out in the world in a pretty open state.
But this… well, this is MORE.
Something has shifted: either I have changed—which I know I have, or they have changed—which I am guessing they have. Or perhaps we have all changed, together.
What it feels like to me, is that there is more soul connection in the air.
The collective SHADOW being brought to our attention by politics and the media has allowed us to take a long, hard look at who we really are.
It’s becoming more clear, to more people—even people who never realized it before—that separation is a myth.
Separation is a myth.
We’re One soul, in it together.
And we are starting to connect.
Are you experiencing it too?

I often ride my bike at an 800-acre wildlife preserve near where we live. I ride a lot—four times a week if I can. And each time something different happens.
I'm often trance because of all the green: it’s chlorophyll high out here, all these trees and bushes and grasses soaking in light.
My brain stops thinking.
My soul starts soaring.
And every time I’m on that bike, in that mind space, hurtling through green and light and breeze, I am met by something the Universe would like me to understand.
On yesterday’s ride, two very special things happen (I’ll mention one today).
I’d reached one of my very favorite parts of the ride, a long downhill stretch that lets you cry out “whoo hoo” as you sail down, wind in your face and speed at your back.
And as I started flying down the hill, three raccoons scooted across the path in front of me.
They were small, healthy, young adults. They moved fast and furtively: first one scampered across and then motioned the others to follow.
They scurried across like scouts, and then the first one saw me, commandeered the others into the brush, and froze in place—sentinel at post.
Three young raccoons, crossing my path in the middle of 800 acres.
The chance of this is not coincidental.
The Universe doesn’t do random.
Whenever I receive an animal sign like this—when nature shows up out of the blue—I always relate it to totem animals. But don't use a spirit animal dictionary.
Instead, I relate it to the emotion I am feeling, or the memory I am remembering, or what I am thinking about at the time.
In this case, I thought of three. I saw the three raccoons, and I thought of my children, three young adults, all away this summer, going about their lives all over the world.
The message from the Universe was clear: all is well.
Everyone is safely crossing the road.
No problem. No worry. All is well.
A very good message, for a mama riding her bike in the woods on a hot summer day.
Maybe you’ve seen some animal totems lately? Maybe some animals have been sending you messages? Remember: the Universe doesn’t do random. If something shows up, it is a gift—a sign for you to ponder.

In which everyone runs around trying to do what everyone else is doing, because they are afraid that everyone else is having a better time than they are.
FOMO has been around since Caveman A made fire and Caveman B wanted a piece of the action, but it’s been exacerbated by social media and this new 24/7 connection that we now have with anyone, anywhere in the world.
It used to be that FOMO paced slower: we’d read about celebrities and their glamorous lives in magazines, but issues came out monthly, so there was a lot of downtime.
Sure, the A-List was something to aspire to, but it didn’t seem real: they were Them, and we were us, doing our humble little lives of non-celebrityness.
Nowadays, everyone’s a celebrity, everyone’s out doing unique and exciting things. Even a Subaru commercial is more exciting that most people’s day-to-day!
And it’s not that all these FOMO events are all that exciting: there’s a lot of press on Kim Kardashian taking her kid to ballet class, for example, and believe me: I have taken kids to ballet class, and it is not all that it’s cracked up to be!
So here we have it:
Everyone looks like a rock star or an artist or a model, even if they’re not.
Everyone seems super interesting, even if they’re not.
Everyone looks like they’re having way more fun than you are.
And this causes most of us to feel this intensive, anxious, FOMO.
Like, what if my life isn’t cool enough?
What if my friends aren’t interesting enough?
What if my trip to the grocery store doesn’t look like a cool trip to the grocery store?
And so on.
If we take it a step further, FOMO makes us afraid to get out of the game, because downtime is boring, isn’t it?
And take it a bit further, to where we’re really at:
Will I even exist, if I am not in this continuous swirl of group energy?
Will I even exist, if I am not constantly tethered to group thought?
Will I be anyone, if I stop being everyone?
Welcome to Oneness. We’re all One, all the time, and we’re just getting use to the idea. FOMO is one way we feel pulled by the energy of Oneness: we feel the urge to merge with everyone, and we’re afraid that if we aren’t in group energy, we won’t exist.
If you’re feeling FOMO, relax. Oneness doesn’t go away. We’re in it, the cosmic energy soup of everyone and everything, always, whether we want to be or not.
The bigger truth is this: we can’t get separate, even if we wanted to.
P.S. Sign up now for small group training Summer 2017!
We sometimes think that our Soul fills our body: we imagine that our aura or energy or essence fills the human container, the same way water might fill a cup.
This is a good practice for when you want to focus on being really embodied: right here, right now, in the human container.
And yet, the thing is: our Soul is much bigger than our body!
Recently, I had the delight of taking my small group students on an interesting meditation, in which we expanded out of the body, into the room, and became one not just with the space in the room, but with everything in it: the desk, the chair, the computer, the cat.
We dissolved into energy particulate, which is of course also Soul, and became One with all That, which is also us.Then we expanded bigger, to the surrounding area. Then bigger still, to a few mile radius around us.
Our soul expanded to several miles in all directions, and we became One with everything in this radius: the tree, the building, the car: Soul merged with All, knew it All, experienced it All, because Soul is That.
Soul isn’t just contained in our bodies.
Soul is infinitely expanded.
In this meditation we went out a few miles; but really, there’s nowhere Soul can’t expand to, because it’s unlimited.
All space. All matter. All time.
And when we exist from Soul self, that’s you! That’s me! That’s us!
It’s a great thing, to realize we are more than just Soul in body.
We’re Soul in Universe.
P.S. Will you be coming on the 2018 Beyond Words Cruise? Earlybird savings here!.
Sometimes people come to me and ask why it is that they can’t do a specific skill, such as see a vision in mediation.
When I ask about their lifestyle, I often find that these are incredibly busy people.
And so I tell them to relax more, to clear their life of overscheduling, to slow down and listen to the still and small.
Yet more often than not, they find it very hard to do this, or they’re resistant to doing this.
They don’t get how relaxing more will help them: how slowing down will help them speed up their spiritual expansion.
They are so accustomed to go-go-go.
They are so accustomed to do-do-do.
They are so accustomed to think-think-think.
Now, go-do-think are okay if you’re trying to tread water in a linear world.
But if you long to enter the depths of the Mystery, these linear, left-brain, rational approaches don’t work.
It’s like trying to use a chainsaw to peel an orange.
If you’re waiting for God, you have to wait in a relaxed state. You have to relax, have downtime, slow down, get quiet, get still.
God can’t reach you if you’re too busy, or too loud or too noisy in your own head.
You’ll miss all the sweet and subtle signs.
P.S. Try our self-study course Psychic Opening for Absolute Beginners.
The Universe sends us signs all the time.
We just usually miss them.
Very early one morning, I drove down our gravel driveway into the woods, in that kind of dreamy, contemplative state that often comes over me while driving.
It happens when I turn off the radio.
I turn off the “to do” list in my head.
And I allow my soul to flow… moving through space, moving through time, allowing myself to expand into everything.
I was in exactly this kind of floaty relaxed state, when I saw a flicker to my right.
If I’d had the radio on, I would have missed it. But fortunately, I was paying attention.
I slowed the car... and then I stopped completely and rolled down the window, and witnessed this pretty plump robin, alight on a stone angel, reminding me that spring is here.
On an angel!
Such as simple little sign of hope—that the cold and rain and mud and grey and drear is finally gone for another season—that we will soon have light and breeze and warmth again.
Such a simple little sign—the Universe putting a bird on it, so we are reminded once again, of how lovely our earthly paradise, our Gaia, really is.
Moving at the speed of guidance—not too fast, not too hurried, in surrender to whatever shows up— is the way to notice these little signs.
Slowing down, noticing, being grateful—is the way to keep them coming.
P.S. Will you be joining me on the 2018 Beyond Words Cruise?
As most of you know, I'm a self-proclaimed hermit. I live out here Hobbit-like in the Oregon woods, and I haven't done an in-person workshop or event for many, many years.
Because recently, the Universe showed up with this crazy, unexpected idea: something I'd never even thought about before.
And I decided to say "yes."
In my case, I found myself with Richard and Michele Cohn, the lovely publishers of Beyond Words (The Secret, What the Bleep?), and they asked me to join them as a presenter on their 2018 Your Soul Awakening cruise in the eastern Caribbean, and ...
I let go of my fear of flying.
I let go of my fear of bathing suits. :)
I let go of my longing for home.
... and I said "I'l be there!"
I do so hope you'll join me! What fun it will be, to work with you in person! I'll be teaching a special workshop Speak the Language of the Universe, plus we'll have time for group gatherings, possibly private readings (TBD).
Right now, there's special Earlybird Savings: Sign up by May 31, and save $300, plus have the option for a special installment plan.
I'm thrilled about this unexpected opportunity, and look forward to meeting you there!
Do you know what you want?
Do you know what you long for, dream for, ask the Universe for?
Do you spend time manifesting, visioning, creating?
Do you spend time affirming your dreams?
I hope very much that you don’t.
At least not much.
Or not often.
Or course there’s value in having dreams, and in looking ahead at what we’d like to accomplish.
But there is one thing that gets left out when we’re manifesting from personality, rather than soul.
The thing is… we often think we know what we want.
Whereas our Soul has much bigger plans in store.
So... why spend all that time and energy creating what we think we want, when we don’t even know if that’s the most expanded choice?
For me, I prefer to let the Divine lead.
To ask the Universe for guidance. And then to follow that guidance in every way, with every intention and action, that I can.
I like to think of life as a river, always in Flow.
We can be in the river the hard way, rowing upstream against the current to get the price/dream/goal we think we want.
Or we can do it the easy way, by asking the Universe to show us where the energy is moving, and then by sailing along effortlessly,, fully in Flow with where the Universe is already taking us.
It's a kind of un-Law of Attraction, un-manifesting.
A way of asking the Universe where you’re supposed to go. Then Flow with that.
P.S. Do you want to learn a new way of manifesting? Try our self-study course Manifest Miracles in 28 Days.
Years ago my husband and I were visiting Kauai, which is exactly the kind of slow-paced, isolated, hiding-out-from-everything vacation we like.
There are a lot celebrities who like a slow pace too, so we weren’t too surprised when we saw Ben Stiller.
We were picking up supplies from a tiny local grocery store, and so, apparently, was Ben Stiller.
He was parked a few feet away from us, and trying pretty hard not to be noticed: he was wearing a hat and sunglasses, and he slumped in the driver’s seat of his van, while his wife and child went into the store to get something.
Look, we said. There’s Ben Stiller.
And we got our shave ice and continued on.
Later that morning, we were at a tiny local bakery getting coffee, and sure enough, there was Ben Stiller about five feet away, getting java too.
Look, we said. There he is again. That guy who’s really, really ridiculously famous, is somehow showing up right where we are, again. Or we’re showing up where he is.
Still later that afternoon, we were driving on a tiny island road to see the fields and plants and birds, and a guy on a bike pedals up right by our car about 10 feet away, and sure enough, it’s Ben Stiller.
By this time he recognizes us, and of course we recognize him, and there’s this strange feeling of déjà vu, or convergence, or what-the-heck-is-going-on. He pedals madly, and we slow the car down so he can go first.
Ben Stiller must think we’re stalking him, my husband says.
Maybe Ben Stiller is stalking us, I say.
There’s this odd, interesting, way that the Universe pulls forces together; creates convergence of energy and understanding.
I still don’t know any more than this: that for three times in 12 hours, I was within 10 feet of Ben Stiller.
Why? No idea.
Such is the Mystery.
P.S. Want to learn more synchronicities? Try our self-study course How to Hear What the Universe is Saying
When we’re first getting familiar with how manifesting works, we often set in motion a lot of dreams that we don’t really want.
We set in motion dreams that come from ego, from mind, from personality:
• My bucket list is this.
• I will accomplish this.
• I will manifest this.
And yet, when we act outside of Divine guidance, when we create from mind/ego/personality, instead of from the sweet Divine guidance that is our true destiny… we often manifest things we don’t really want.
We just think we want them.
How many times have you wanted something SO BAD, and then by the time it comes to fruition, you realize: I don’t want that any more.
You have grown past it:
• I want to live in this place.
• I want to work at this job.
• I want to be with this lover.
• I want to travel to this country.
• I want to do this accomplishment.
And you get there, and the Universe, which has been carefully creating your manifestation all this time, delivers it to you with bells on and you realize: uh oh… that's an old dream.
You’ve grown past it.
The things we really want are always connection, engagement, love. We want to know we are doing our dharma; that we are in alignment with our soul destiny.
We want to do the work we came here to do.
We want to be in the relationships we came here to be in.
We want to have the experiences that expand us as souls.
The rest of it… it’s all the ego/mind/personality swirling around in distraction.
If you sense that old dreams are showing up in your life, don’t hem and haw and wait to see how things play out.
Unhook from them as soon as you understand what’s happening.
Let the Universe know where you are now.
Let go of mind/personality/ego creations.
Move on to the deeper soul work the Universe is guiding you toward.

My favorite middle-eastern restaurant is family run: the people are friendly and the food is fantastic: home-made hummus, baba ghanoush, falafel.
A few days ago, I headed in for lunch. Near the counter, a worker appeared to be fixing something on the floor.
He wasn’t a worker.
And he wasn’t repairing anything.
He was the restaurant owner, a man in his late 50s, kneeling on a prayer rug behind one of the dining tables.
He was doing his spiritual practice as is consistent with his Muslim faith: answering the call to prayer. For 1400 years, the devout face east and pray five times each day:
• At dawn, before sunrise
• At midday, after the sun passes its highest
• In the late part of the afternoon
• Just after sunset
• Between sunset and midnight
It was midday. Thus he was praying.
He allowed nothing to stop him. Not the customers in his restaurant watching him, not the demands of a busy workday.
He was praying in public.
And most interesting to me was that even though he was in the midst of his devotions, at the same time, he was fully of this world.
Thus, when I entered the restaurant, he stood up, smiled and welcomed me, mid prayer. When I sat down, he stopped mid prayer and filled my water glass. When he was done with his devotion, he rolled up his prayer rug, smiled again, and came back and took my order.
His devotion was fully integrated. His spiritual life was enfolded into his regular day.
To witness this: a person praying in public, a person who did not separate the Divine from everyday… this was a beautiful thing.
I don’t know about you, but I sometimes find it hard to find a consistent time to meditate or pray. I get busy, or have appointments or life gets in the way.
Or does it?
Witnessing this man praying in public, reminded me that nothing is more important than connection to the Divine.
Each in our own way. Each with our own beliefs and traditions.
Spirituality not as a separate practice, but as our way of being.

A lot of sensitive and empathic folks feel better when things are a certain way. When things feel right.
If you’re like me, you sense the energy of objects in a room the moment you walk in, and if things aren’t balanced quite right, or they’re not in harmony, or the energy doesn’t feel good… there is this keen urge to set things right.
To bring the room into balance.
You can follow the urge, or not do anything, but either way, you feel it.
There’s a zen saying “do not disturb the harmony of the 10,000 things.”
It’s about this idea of everything relating to everything.
Right now, I’m helping my mom move from her place in Seattle, and there are 10,000 things that need packing and sorting and sifting through and making decisions about.
And with every thing moved from its customary place, there is also a sense of an emotional moving: in other words, with the movement of an object, comes emotional shifting.
Sometimes it’s a memory trigger.
Sometimes it’s something else.
Objects hold energy, and when we move 10,000 objects, we release a great deal of energy.
If you have not lately sifted and sorted and gone through all of the 10 or 10,000 things in your life, I highly advise it.
As you clear and declutter, look and relook, you will find your emotions will also be processed, released and integrated.

We’ve all heard the phrases “Divine time is not our time,” or “the Universe works in its own timing.”
And this can be confusing.
Because time is really only the dimension of Nowness, it can get easy to become confused when we are receiving guidance about our lives.
We go into meditation and receive an amazing guiding vision about our path and purpose: we see the vision clearly, we see ourselves in the vision, we are surrounded by Guides and the angelic realm who support this vision.
Our vision is so clear, so important, so prophetic... we know it in our hearts and souls to be absolute truth!
And then… nothing happens.
Days go by, or months, or sometimes even years... and the vision we saw does not manifest itself.
So, what does this say about Divine timing?
In essence: The Universe manifests when we are ready for the manifestation.
This means, when you receive a guiding vision that is so crystal clear, so prophetic, that outlines a clear path for your life… it’s up to you to follow that path.
You must move, ceaselessly and tenaciously, toward this vision.
If you just sit at home watching The Good Place, nothing will happen.
If you desire to move toward this vision, but you have some past wounds to clear up, the Universe will work patiently until you have done that inner work, and then the Universe will manifest this vision for you.
If you really desire this vision, and you also move your personality and your body toward this envisioned reality, then the Universe will assist you at a steady speed.
If you are wholly clear: you are onboard with this vision and there is nothing more important than this destiny, right now, for your soul, it will happen immediately.
Of course the Universe can bring you everything right now!
But the Universe, in its infinite wisdom and love, brings us the most important things in right timing.
If you have been working toward a vision for a long time, trust that everything is happening as it should be.
You may need to commit more fully in action.
You may need to do more inner work around past wounds and fears.
You may need to simply get out of the way and allow.
Our destiny unfolds in right timing, because there is no other way the Universe works than in Nowness, Oneness, love.

Lately, I've been up in Seattle helping my mom get her condo ready to sell.
It's a big job, and it's very sentimental for me, because Seattle is where I grew up, where I went to school, where I lived until I was 28.
In other words... I know that town.
I know the Space Needle and Ballard Locks and the troll-under-the-bridge.
I know Gas Works Park and Greenlake and that secret back road near University Village.
I know Matthews Beach and Golden Gardens and the Ferry Terminal.
I know Nordstrom and Uwajimaya and Pike Place Market: when I worked downtown, I ate there every day.
A lot of memory, held in that city.
And with my mom moving to a new place, it's likely I won't be in Seattle very often again.
There's a sense of loss, but there's also a sense of appreciation.
For even as I help my mom, I'm also experiencing a life review of all those years, in which I was a part of that place: who I was, what I was doing, what I was learning.
A lot of you are having this experience now, as you help out your older parents. Returning to old places, and feeling all the feelings that arrive.
From soul perspective, this is a soul lesson in which we are asked:
To remember it all.
To hold all of it with love.
To allow all emotions.
To feel everything fully.
To detach from clinging and grasping.
And to trust, that more joy is even in this moment, winging its way toward us.

A few days back, I wrote about the Lunar Eclipse in Leo. Some of you reminded me that there was also a comet blazing through the sky during this planetary event. Thank you!
During the time of new moons, full moons, and most certainly during eclipses, I like to work with the energy of the Universe to set intention for myself, and for all of the world.
To do this, I usually do a ritual.
Thus, about an hour before the eclipse was to take place (in the afternoon where we live), I found myself in our backyard in the forest, burning an enormous box of my journals.
(Don’t worry... these journals are no loss to anyone. They are simply my way of scribbling notes. They are a scratch pad for ideas that form the writing that comes later.)
But it is good to let the past go. To release the person we are no longer, so we can become the person we are now called to be.
Thus, I started to burn these journals in our fire pit, and it took a while.
It was smoky, and it was actually fairly difficult to get all those journals to burn: starting with a few, then adding more, stirring them with a long stick, and all the while praying, praying, praying.
I ask for peace. I ask for peace for the world.
I ask for awakening. I ask for awakening for the world.
I ask of freedom from all suffering. I ask for this for the world.
I ask for clear sense of purpose. I ask for all souls to know their path.
I release all my past, I am thankful for all joys, and I step into NOW. I ask for this awakening for collective soul.
And at one point, I said to the Universe "I'd love a sign during this ritual. That would be so amazing.” Then right away I changed my mind and said, "I don’t really need a sign. I am so grateful. Nevermind."
And then I got back to the task of releasing my past self.
Asking, praying, taking, stirring, burning. About an hour passed. Near the end, I heard my husband's car rumble down the hill. He was here to join me for the eclipse. He added his own intentions to the fire, and we talked and prayed as the fire burned.
I threw the last few journals on the fire.
In that same moment, it started to lightly rain.
"It's the eclipse now,” said my husband, checking his watch. He reached over to give me a hug, and because of this, he turned, and because of this, I turned, and because we both turned, we shifted direction and because of this we saw it: a huge, wildly vibrant rainbow shining right above us through the trees.
I could not believe.
I could not fathom it.
"It's my sign" I cried out, and my heart burst with love.
The rainbow shown and shown and my heart pounded in joy.
We stared in awe and hugged and shouted and stared in awe some more. .
I started laughing. That funny Universe!I asked for a sign, and then said I didn't need one because there are miracles every day, and then I forgot about my request, and then the Universe answered it anyway.
In perfect timing, as always:
In the moment of the last journal burning, the full releasing of the past, in the exact moment of the eclipse, the exact moment of the gateway into the new consciousness... the rainbow appeared.
And then just a minute later, it disappeared.
It simply blew away before our eyes. It had only been there for that one moment. If we had not turned together in that exact timing, we would have missed it.
This is how Universe is with us ALWAYS. Always a miracle, always guiding, always pure love and joy.
And what did this sign mean?
In my heart of hearts, in my deepest direct knowing, this was the answer. "Everything is okay. Everything is as it should be. All your heart longs for, for you and for the world, is already in motion. Love is everywhere."
My dear friends... I wish you signs and miracles and your own hearts bursting open in love.
The Universe is with us, in all moments.
