Kurt Cobain is not mentioned in this post.
In fact, the subject of this post likely doesn't even know who he is.

There comes a time in every teen's life when they move from the graphic tees section of Old Navy, to the official no-longer-a-preteen section.

That day was today.

Amidst the 4th of July specials we journeyed, looking askance at anything red, white or blue.

Instead the shopper, now 12.75 years, settled on a cardigan and skirt, as previously noticed in Teen Vogue.

If you have every waited in an Old Navy with the disco pop blaring, while said near teen tries on 368 items of clothing, dare we say you have not lived?

And yet... In the end, what was chosen was absolutely perfect for the shopper.
A new match, for an emerging personality. Worth trying on everything that did not fit, did not work.

Such is true for all of us, at every age.

We try on different aspects of ourselves, until we find what is most authentic, what is most interesting, what fits the best.

Well worth the time, the effort.
No matter when we start.
However long the journey takes.
