You know that afternoon when you pull out that box of holiday decor you have stashed in the garage or attic or closet, and you take out all that stuff that's been waiting there all year?
And all memories flood forward? What you were doing last year. What you were doing five years ago. Who made the ornament out of glue and glitter. Who was there then, who is no longer here. Who you were then, that you are no longer. If you allow yourself to sink into the absolute sentimentality of the season, it can be a watershed, a great releasing. And this can be a good thing. When we see where we have been, we can better assess where we are now. We can remember that our lives are both as simple as the experience of one Now moment, and as rich as the sum total of all the experiences of Now moments we've every had, in this lifetime and in all lifetimes.
