    Going adrift.

Some days you wake up and Destiny does not greet you.

You’re not filled with any sense of meaning, or any sense of momentum, or you’re not sure why you’re doing any of it anyway.

When you feel this way, feel it.

Don’t try to get all pumped up and productive!
Don’t try to get all motivated and mojo’d!

Just let it be. Let yourself be, as you are feeling right now. Go adrift for a while, and let yourself admit that you don’t know:

    • Who you really are.
    • What you’re supposed to be doing.
    • Why you’re living in this place.
    • Why you’re living with that person.
    • Why you’re doing this work.
    • What it’s all about, anyhow?

Everything seems like a weird dream. Nothing makes sense. It all seems so strange, it’s all an illusion.
Let yourself go adrift from your particular identity: this body, this personality, this life, this work, these relationships, and recognize that you are multifaceted, and that you have many desires, and that many parts of you are not expressed, even if you are living a very expressive, authentic, creative life.

And especially, if you are not.

Just go adrift, and allow yourself to detach from all that identity, that personality, that ego, that “must do,” that “this is how it is” and just take a deep breath and smile and say, Maybe that’s how it is.

    Or maybe it’s not.

When we go adrift, we free ourselves from the thinking pattern of this is how it “must be.”

Whereas of course, there are lots of ways to be and live.

Going adrift, for a few hours, for a day, for a series of days to get your head clear: all this helps you come to the understanding that how you live, who you live with, what you think about… nothing’s set in stone.

    It’s all your choice.

    Would you rather?

The big questions of life are sometimes posed by the innocence of youth.

At a coffee shop lately, we sat next to a girl of about ten, plus her mom, her teenage sister and her sister's friend.

The young girl kept reading loudly from her cell phone, from an app that I am guessing is called "Would You Rather?"

With that persistent, adorable, unstoppable, lovely force of a preteen, she read questions to her mom.

“Mom! Would you rather love someone but they DON'T love you? Or have someone love you but YOU DON'T love them? "

    “Mom? Mom! What’s your answer?”

    "Umm… that's a hard one."

“Mom! Now listen to this one.”

    “Okay.”

"Would you rather NEVER eat chocolate, or ONLY eat chocolate?"

    "That one's easy… eat chocolate."

And eavesdropping with broad smiles at the table one foot away, she read aloud our very favorite...

    "Mom! Mom! Mom!”

    Sigh. “Yes, dear.”

“Mom, this is IMPORTANT. Would you rather wear underwear ALWAYS. Or never wear underwear EVER?"

Their table, our table, and even few tables nearby, convulsed into laughter. The mentioning of unmentionables had us all laughing.

Life is funny. People are funny. It is so enjoyable to be in life, surrounded by others enjoying an everyday afternoon, drinking coffee and laughing at silly jokes.

Yep. There we were. Laughing at a joke about underwear... in the midst of a cafe filled with parents, kids, seniors, singles... a diverse community of folks.

Nobody focused on being “spiritual” as something outside of ourselves.
Nobody trying to be “spiritual” in some formal way.

    Just hanging out being human.
    Laughing and connecting.
    Wearing underwear or not.

    Letting the Divine lead.

    Picture
Do you know what you want?
Do you know what you long for, dream for, ask the Universe for?
Do you spend time manifesting, visioning, creating?
Do you spend time affirming your dreams?

I hope very much that you don’t.
    At least not much.
    Or not often.

Or course there’s value in having dreams, and in looking ahead at what we’d like to accomplish.
But there is one thing that gets left out when we’re manifesting from personality, rather than soul.

The thing is… we often think we know what we want.
Whereas our Soul has much bigger plans in store.

So... why spend all that time and energy creating what we think we want, when we don’t even know if that’s the most expanded choice?

For me, I prefer to let the Divine lead.
To ask the Universe for guidance. And then to follow that guidance in every way, with every intention and action, that I can.

I like to think of life as a river, always in Flow.

We can be in the river the hard way, rowing upstream against the current to get the price/dream/goal we think we want.

Or we can do it the easy way, by asking the Universe to show us where the energy is moving, and then by sailing along effortlessly,, fully in Flow with where the Universe is already taking us.

    It's a kind of un-Law of Attraction, un-manifesting.

A way of asking the Universe where you’re supposed to go. Then Flow with that.

    Ben Stiller is stalking me.

    Picture
A while back, my husband and I were visiting Kauai, which is exactly the kind of slow-paced, isolated, hiding-out-from-everything vacation we like.

There are a lot celebrities who like a slow pace too, so we weren’t too surprised when we saw Ben Stiller.

We were picking up supplies from a tiny local grocery store, and so, apparently, was Ben Stiller.

He was parked a few feet away from us, and trying pretty hard not to be noticed: he was wearing a hat and sunglasses, and he slumped in the driver’s seat of his van, while his wife and child went into the store to get something.

Look, we said. There’s Ben Stiller.

And we got our shave ice and continued on.

Later that morning, we were at a tiny local bakery getting coffee, and sure enough, there was Ben Stiller about five feet away, getting java too.

Look, we said. There he is again. That guy who’s really, really ridiculously famous, is somehow showing up right where we are, again. Or we’re showing up where he is.

Still later that afternoon, we were driving on a tiny island road to see the fields and plants and birds, and a guy on a bike pedals up right by our car about 10 feet away, and sure enough, it’s Ben Stiller.

By this time he recognizes us, and of course we recognize him, and there’s this strange feeling of déjà vu, or convergence, or what-the-heck-is-going-on. He pedals madly, and we slow the car down so he can go first.

Ben Stiller must think we’re stalking him, my husband says.

Maybe Ben Stiller is stalking us, I say.

There’s this odd, interesting, way that the Universe pulls forces together; creates convergence of energy and understanding.

I still don’t know any more than this: that for three times in 12 hours, I was within 10 feet of Ben Stiller.

    Why? No idea.
    Such is the Mystery.

    The ex files.

    Picture
The internet is filled with posts on how to stay on friendly terms with an ex.

    It’s a nice idea, isn’t it?

But energetically speaking, when a relationship is complete, it’s time to let it go.

Now, you might be tempted to think that you can still be in contact with an ex, or stay in touch, or even still be friends.

But in terms of energy entanglement, it’s very confusing.

This is because if a relationship is karmically complete, yet still continues, the result is energetic chaos.

Every time you see or talk to or even think about your ex, you experience the reattaching of energy cords, and you create further karma with this person.

If you don’t get along with your ex, the situation can get very messy: you’re still attaching cords every time you think about him/her, argue with him/her, are upset about how he/she behaves.

    You’re still attaching cords.
    You’re still creating karma.
Energetically, you’re still in the relationship.

When you truly let go of an ex, there is no longer a trigger when you are in contact with him/her.
There aren’t any more disagreement besides the kind of difference of opinion you might have with any one.

When you let go of an ex, you aren’t afraid of him/her or angry or obsessed or jealous or sad…
    Because it just doesn’t matter.

    The karma is complete.
    The energy is dissipated.
    You’re no longer corded up.
You’re not longer each other’s destiny.

If you’ve broken up with someone, it may be that this is because you’ve learned all the karmic lessons you’ll need to learn together, or you may be back for round two (or three or four hundred!) in the next lifetime.

You might be done, or you might be done for this lifetime.

In either case, if you have an ex who’s still in your energy field, consider how this is still serving you.

Letting go means detaching in person and energetically.

See where you’re at, in the process.

    When old dreams come around.

When we’re first getting familiar with how manifesting works, we often set in motion a lot of dreams that we don’t really want.

We set in motion dreams that come from ego, from mind, from personality:

    • My bucket list is this.
    • I will accomplish this.
    • I will manifest this.

And yet, when we act outside of Divine guidance, when we create from mind/ego/personality, instead of from the sweet Divine guidance that is our true destiny… we often manifest things we don’t really want.

We just think we want them.

How many times have you wanted something SO BAD, and then by the time it comes to fruition, you realize: I don’t want that any more.

    You have grown past it:

    • I want to live in this place.
    • I want to work at this job.
    • I want to be with this lover.
    • I want to travel to this country.
    • I want to do this accomplishment.

And you get there, and the Universe, which has been carefully creating your manifestation all this time, delivers it to you with bells on and you realize: uh oh… that's an old dream.

    You’ve grown past it.

The things we really want are always connection, engagement, love. We want to know we are doing our dharma; that we are in alignment with our soul destiny.

We want to do the work we came here to do.
We want to be in the relationships we came here to be in.
We want to have the experiences that expand us as souls.

The rest of it…  it’s all the ego/mind/personality swirling around in distraction.

If you sense that old dreams are showing up in your life, don’t hem and haw and wait to see how things play out.

Unhook from them as soon as you understand what’s happening.
Let the Universe know where you are now.
    Let go of mind/personality/ego creations.
Move on to the deeper soul work the Universe is guiding you toward.
