HA - Got you beat.......purse is used only when I feel so inclined. Keys are my left front jeans pocket, back left my C Phone, right pocket my wallet!
Make up goes on in the morning, no need for make up carrying, Aunt Flow left many moons ago, ......Have a great day and go hug one of those beautiful trees for me....
Wow, Sara. I never thought of my purse in this way. It is a complete reflection of life's stages. I can relate. I was just looking at a smaller car....ready to move on from the roomy mini van. No more car seats, diaper bags, carriages and supplies taking up extra cargo space. Just me & the kids. The shedding, the shifting, the changing of life. Thank you for sharing this insightful symbolism.
Yes. And it seems to me important that we recognize the stages and passages; not grasping to ways or things of the past. Moving freely and without fear to the next stage.
Hmmm. My purse carries many things I. O longer use. What timing...I noticed recently that I ever use the contents of one of the bags inside my purse. "I need to take that out of there" I told myself, and I'm sure there is a lot more being toted around that I haven't used in a long time.
Perhaps it's time for my purse to act my age...Lol.
To get down to who you really are, today. Not who you were six years ago. :)
I'm with you, Sara! The purse is lighter and I'm cleaning out the house. Over the last two years, two dear friends passed away and I was responsible for clearing out their homes. You know, nothing has any worth unless there is a strong sentimental connection. I was able to receive four very small items that I loved and I knew they loved, but everything else was just stuff. The older I get the less "stuff" I want in my life. Thanks for this great post.
Thank you, Tibby. I am in the middle of helping someone sort through their things, and you're right.. .we have an amazing ability to accumulate, and this stuff does not usually serve us.
What an appropriate metaphor for the stages of our life Sara. My empty purse brings me pain but I know it will be filled again.
It will be filled so much you will need a backpack.
Thanks Sara! Your post is so timely, of course. I've been using public transportation of late, so I've switched to a backpack. That had started out heavier and keeps reducing I weight and contents. For a few days, I even still carried purse. No more. Then recently, while spending a gift card, I bought a new purse. I love it!!! But I've been finding myself looking at it and asking myself what would I put in there??? Perfect analogy. Stop carrying around unnecessary baggage, effects, objects, memories, people. Keep only those that truly serve us well and fit into our lives!!!
Yes, only what serves you!
