I feel like I’m not going to make it through the holidays. Every time I go to the mall, I get a headache, and I feel physically ill. I don’t remember if it was this bad last year, it didn’t seem like it.
But this year, something feels different. Even shopping on line makes me feel bad somehow. What should I do?—Petra
There’s so much pressure to shop, consume, purchase and buy in this society—not just during the holidays, but all the time. The thing is: all of it is a myth, a falsehood, a Misbelief.
As spiritual beings in Earth bodies we are absolutely NOT required to over shop, to over consume or to over purchase. In fact, that kind of behavior is the absolute antithesis to what our true hearts and our true souls require.
I am not surprised you feel sick and panicked when you shop, Petra. This is the case for most folks who are beginning to open, to become conscious, and to feel the affects of the Shift that is definitely ramping up as we near the end of 2012.
The real gifts are never objects. They are always gifts of true connection, true presence with another. When you begin to recognize and to practice it, everything changes.
On another level also, we are becoming aware that we are indeed One, and what affects one affects the totality of all of us. Obviously, if Americans are overspending and people in third world countries are barely surviving, this is not Oneness.
I’d suggest you try an experiment. For the next three weeks, simply refrain from shopping… just opt out. Focus on connecting with others, walking your spiritual path, enjoying yourself without buying anything. You will be shocked at how quickly this changes things for you.
