How do I know what true love is? How can I tell if I’ve met my soul mate or not? I’ve been through so many bad relationships, and I really want to find the One.—Petra
The great poet Rumi writes about the true Beloved: “From the beginning of my life/I have been looking for your face/but today I have seen it..”
If you read the works of Rumi, you begin to realize that he’s not just talking about the soul mate in human form—but that the soul mate is also the Divine/God/One/All
There’s no difference between the two.
Thus, when you start to look at love and relationships this way, finding your soul mate becomes a spiritual journey—a seeking of soul, not a journey of physical attraction.
Everyone has the opportunity to be with a soul mate in this lifetime, if that’s what he or she wants. Not every soul chooses that path; some souls choose to experience life without the Beloved, and that’s a very valid choice.
But for you, Petra, it’s time to let go of those ideas about what a soul mate is according to mainstream dictates, and to begin this search for the Divine being who awaits you on a soul level. It means letting go of a whole bunch of ideas about what you think you want… and allowing the Divine to lead you. This means this person who is your Beloved may show up in a physical container or with characteristics that you might not expect!
A soul mate is a true heart match, a true soul match. Nothing else—physical, career, money, etc—matters.
I teach an amazing process of how to attract your soul mate in my course Call in Your Beloved with Ease.
I met my husband two years ago, and I was certain he was my soul mate. There was so much destiny around it and lots of things happened that couldn't be possible to be anything except synchronistic. For example, we met on two boats in the middle of a lake; he had to help me when my boat was sinking. I love him with my whole heart, but he cheated on me. What gives? Why is my soul mate unfaithful to me? —Jenna
The nature of karmic destiny with another person is such that when we meet anyone—everyday person or lover— the reason for our meeting is soul growth. Karmic crossings are often highly charged, very exciting, that kind of attraction you can't pass up. And there's a reason for this. We NEED to be with this person, to work on our soul growth. No one else can help us get further faster. With your ex-husband (to be), you had a karmic crossing with him. But once your karma was complete, it is time to let the relationship go. Now, many people are happy for decades and lifetimes together. But in your case, you learned your lesson with your ex, and now you are moving forward. And so is he.
To help you let go, try my self-study course Heal Your Relationship Karma.
This was calling me to share with you. I am on Lesson 342 of your book The Four Passages of the Heart, which means I have been doing a lesson a day for 342 days! And I’m here to report that there are no quick fixes—but change does happen! Here’s today’s lesson, and my response:
Lesson 342: When your perspective shifts, when you become transformed and transmuted by your experience in heart of love, the outside aspects of your life also change. This is much more than "law of attraction," or "manifesting." This is much beyond "integration" or "shadow". You have simply moved beyond all of this.
Exercise: What did you believe before, when you started this course? What do you believe now? Try to write it five sentences. Then in just one. Is there a way to say it in words?
What I wrote as my answer to this exercise is: I guess on some level I believed that how I was I was, and that certain things were just how it was supposed to be. There were a lot of ideas I held about myself and what was right for me, as well as what was/is possible for me.
Today I realize that things change, that things are changing, that I am changing. That I can call it “Flow,” and that I can go with it. How I was in the past, how “it” was in the past, and what was right in the past may not be how I am, it is, or what is right for me now. What I have been reminded of through gifted teachers and various lessons:
• Everything is Vibration
• Vibration changes.
• I can change my Vibration.
• I can choose my Vibration.
Thank you for being one of the Great Teachers in my life!! With much love and gratitude!!! — R.
Thank you for writing about your experience. I appreciate that you’ve stayed in touch; I remember you writing when you first began the book The Fours Passages of the Heart, reading one “illumination," then doing short exercise per day. It was hard going at first! And yet, you’ve made it through!
You’re a wonderful example of a person who decides to do her inner spiritual work—and faces head on, all the changes that you wanted to make, and all the changes you didn’t want to make but did anyway.
And now, the fruits of your labors starting to come forward.
Thanks for writing and sharing, R. You are an inspiration to others on the path.
I have a few questions for you, so here goes! 1) How do I know if what I am doing (publishing) is my right path? 2) What is the fear I carry deep within? 3) How do I fill this void I feel in my heart? What is it? — S. B.
Hi S.B.; Hmm… you think you have three questions, but they’re really all the same: How can you know you’re living the life you’re meant to live? And the answer is, there are many ways to live a life, but there is only one purpose: to move forward in soul growth, heart’s opening, connection and love.
For example, publishing is a great path for you, S.B., and you’re going to do very well at it! You can’t even imagine how things will grow and expand if you just continue to take it step by step, being open to all the aspects the Divine will open for you. This is a great path, you’re very good at it, it serves many people, and it’s a lovely way to work in this world.
However…. You’re also a gifted healer, even though you might not know this yet. You’ve got the ability to work with people with your hands. Does that mean you set aside publishing to do that? The answer is: not now, not yet. But do realize that there are many ways to live, and that you will live many ways in your life. You will do publishing. You may do healing as well. You may do traveling still later, to places you never thought you’d get to. It’s a big life: you’ll get to do lots of things.
The other questions: about the void in your heart… the fear. These are deeper, and relate to your consciousness. As you learn how to continually open from pain into compassion into connection into love, the four passages of the heart (the four stages of conciousness) you’ll find a dropping away of these feelings. You’ll let go of old stuff; pare away what you aren’t. You’ll let go of old pain, and move into a state of deep compassion for yourself and others, and into the realization that Oneness is not some new age catch phrase: it’s what we truly are. You’ll know this in your heart, at a new level. And this pain, or longing, or void… will simply disappear.
You can find complete information on this process of heart’s opening in my new book, The Four Passages of the Heart; order it now at www.sarawiseman.com or on Amazon.

Ugh! I feel like I’m not making progress. I’ve been meditating, praying and working on my intuition using your courses for about 3 months. And while I do feel less anxious and more at peace, I still have flashes of anger to the people in my family. I feel like I should be moving forward faster. How long will it take, before I start to change for good? — Andi
When you’re trying to create true change in yourself and your life, the trick is to keep opening your heart bigger and bigger into love. There are four passages that each human will move through, during this process: pain, compassion, connection and love. If you listened last week, we talked about pain, and how you need to simply allow it—not fight it. That’s the only way to get through it. It sounds like you’re doing that right now.
The next step is to learn how to be compassionate—and not just to other people. When you learn how to be truly compassionate, you’ll start to compassion to others, but you’ll also start to feel compassion for yourself.
This, Andi, is the key that turns every lock, the miracle that makes everything happen. And I think that once you learn this, you’ll fine those feels of anger come less and less often… and you’ll also free yourself from other negative beliefs and attitudes.
There’s no way to start feeling better and living a better life, than you just go through it and do the work. I would suggest you work through my course The 33 Lessons; it is an intensive that will take you far.

I know that we’ve just had the Shift, but I still feel so down. It feels like the world is still so dark. What can I do? — Tim
I would love for you to take a look at my book, The Four Passages of the Heart, in which you'll learn an absolutely amazing technique to move from pain into love. It’s not hard to do, it works brilliantly, and once you know how to do this, you will consistently be able to shift yourself from low vibration to high vibration in a matter of seconds, no matter where you are or what you are doing. This technique works for everyone, no matter what belief system, although I suppose you have to believe in love and the Divine to do it. But aside from that, it’s for every human being.
So... that's a tool you can start to use right away. The thing I notice about the Shift is that things seem more peaceful, less anxious in general. I notice myself and others simply “feeling good” more than we used to. Do you notice this small change? I notice a lessening of anxiety in many of my clients; it’s not perfect, but there is a sense of peace, or that “everything is going to be okay”. Do you feel this change?
Begin to focus on these slight shifts in the energy that we are living in. Just by noticing these small changes in your life and world, you will begin to see the pattern of Shift that did indeed happen, and is continuing to happen and expand.
The Divine works with us as we’re able to manage it; after all, we are human, and too much angel trumpets and bright lights are a bit rough on the human system. So we’re getting the Shift subtly, in small changes, in ways that we can handle and integrate the change. Pay attention, breathe, meditate and pray—and begin to notice this in your life.
